]> Worktrade Application for NBTSC 2003 -NBTSC 2003 Work-trade Information- Before applying for a work-trade position at NBTSC, here are a few things you should know. This is a straightforward work trade-you don't pay anything to come to camp, and we don't pay you anything. You must also send in a camp registration form to be considered for a work trade. If you don't plan on attending camp unless you get a worktrade position, don't send a deposit check. Instead, just staple your registration form to your worktrade application. Or, if you mail them in separately, write "WORK TRADE ONLY" on your registration form in some obvious place. Work traders are needed for 4 hours each full day of camp, plus 6-8 hours on the day before camp starts, the first day of camp, and the day camp ends. (Up to 48 hours total. This means, in effect, you are earning something like $10 per hour for your work.) Work consists of anything we need done that you can do-from scrubbing pots and pans to babysitting to chopping vegetables to running errands to cooking oatmeal. Worktraders must come prepared to think of themselves as workers first and campers second. Although you will be assigned to an advisee group, you may sometimes be needed to work during advisee group-or during talent shows, evening events, early in the morning, etc. A cooperative, willing spirit is really important to us-we hate having to nag. (And, of course, we want you to have a great time and will never assign you work at inconvenient times without a good reason.) We may need your help starting on the morning of the day before camp starts. For Session 1 this is simple, because you can just meet us in Eugene. If so, we may be able to help arrange a ride from Eugene (or for Session 3, Cumberland or Winchester), but if we can't, then you'll need to take care of your own transportation to Roseburg or Camp Myrtlewood (for session 2) or (for session 3) to Buffalo Gap. If we do need you the day before camp, we'll call or email you at least two weeks before camp to say so. If you want to make your travel plans earlier, contact us to see if we already know when we need you, but we may not be able to tell you until two weeks before camp. If we need you a day early, we will provide lodging for you on that night (unless it's Session 1 and you can easily arrange to stay with someone you know in Eugene, which would be nice but not necessary). However, we cannot provide any lodging for the previous night. We may need some help from you on the afternoon of the last day of camp. But, we can't provide any overnight lodging so you'll either need to leave town late in the day or make your own overnight arrangements. We generally give first preference to people who could not afford to come to camp otherwise, though we will consider anyone's application, and it is necessary that worktraders are prepared to be really helpful at camp. Postmark deadline for applications is March 18, 2003. We'll let you know by April 18 if we have a spot for you. --------------------------------------- /Office use only:/ Date rec'd___________ Notes: NBTSC 2003 Work-trade Application Your name____________________________________ address___________________________________________________________ Phone # ________________________________ email address___________________________________ If you might not be at the above phone # or email during the month before camp, please give another email or phone # where we can reach you (or someone who knows where you are) during that time: _________________________________________________ How old will you be on August 25, 2003?________ Have you attended camp before? _______________ What year(s) and what session(s)?_________________________ Are you also applying for a scholarship? _______ If so, is your first preference a scholarship or a worktrade?______________ If you have a preference for a session, please circle it. * I (Aug 25-Sept 1) * II (Sept. 4-11) * III (West Virginia, Sept 25-Oct 2) * Doesn't matter Would it be impossible for you to make it to any session due to scheduling conflicts or distance?
