The actually Preface to a nifty book called Are Your Lights On? By Donald C. Gause and Gerald M. Weinberg
- Problem: Nobody reads prefaces
- Solution: Call the preface chapter 1
- New problem created by solution: Chapter 1 is boring
- Resolution: Throw away chapter 1 and call chapter 2 chapter 1.
I get a huge kick out of this on several levels. First it was a cool book, and secondly, its so true. I never read the preface to a book! -Dawn
- May I suggest the preface to the Tenth Anniversary Calvin and Hobbes collection, by Bill Waterson?

oo yes, that's a good one. i generally skip the prefaces and forwards, and read some of the introductions.
