The Sun Sign, which depends on the day you are born. This affects your physical features and outward personality. 2. The Rising Sign, or Ascendent, which depends on the time you are born. This can color your sun sign and change it to some extent. For instance, my sun sign is Virgo, which has the reputation for being reliable and predictable. However, my ascendent is Gemini, which makes me more spontanious and unpredictable than most Virgos. It's argued that the Ascendent can actually have more control over the personality than the Sun Sign itself, but most of the time I think it's pretty balanced. 3. The Moon Sign, which, like the Ascendent, depends on the time you are born. It controls your emotions and inner self. This can also affect your outward personality and the choices you make, but it's more hidden and can be harder to guess. If you are born in close proximity to another sign (for instance, if you are an Aries born the day after Pisces ends) it's called a "cusp", and it means you can inherit some traits of the previous or next sign. I'm not sure how much it can affect the personality, but it does count.
