i read somewhere. i think it was adbusters magazine, on the topic of cool, and i paraphrase: cool used to be the person who was so individual no one could duplicate his/her style, but everyone tried. now cool is the rigth brand names, and looking like everyone else.

i was amused by it enough to remember it, and then this page triggered the memory, that, and my horrable childhood growing up in sicily, and the way my mother used to cook us cockroaches, because there was nothing else to eat, and how horrrable the little things crunched.. *shudder*. but i'm not sure how true it is. just that it's an amusing concept.

about that first paragraph... i was thinking about that this morning, about cool style and NBTSC. about how it really is cool to be individual at NBTSC. where the 'coolest' people are the most individual. like, i could say i really like summer's style (which i do) and it's really cool, but i wouldn't be 'cool' if i tried to dress exactly like summer. that's the feeling i get. but if i dressed exactly like me (read: tiedye, masking tape etc *gigglegrin*) then that would be 'cool'. agree? disagree? -marina
