* Caleb is... I cannot even put into words how much Caleb means to me. Knowing him has changed my life, and every day i am greatful that i was given the pleasure of meeting him at camp. Caleb represents so many wonderful things in life. he is so generous and caring, and gives the best hugs. i could tell my life's deepest and most treasured secrets to him in an instant, i trust him so much. he is so much fun to be with, and so charming and nice to everyone, and of course, a fabulous dancer. i don't know what more i can say, except, Caleb you are a wonderful person. Kind even to strangers. - Naela Caleb and I went out for ice cream the night of my birthday, when he was staying at the hostel before session 1. We walked around the streets of Eugene, talked, and ate the best ice cream I have ever tasted. I let it drip down my hands and finally crushed it altogether (that was fun!) I'll always connect ice cream with Caleb. He's a great person to talk to, very friendly and open, and he has a lovely smile that really lights up the world around him. -wanderlust ...great! He's great to talk to because he makes eye contact and gives good attention when communticating. He is very charming. He has a great smile. And most of all, he's lots of fun! He always has a cheerfulness about him, even when he's out sick for four consecutive days [at NBTSC!]. ~Erin Caleb is very there... he's a wonderful listener, and gives great hugs. He's great to just sit and talk to, and for that matter, great to listen to. He's an amazing dancer, and a wonderful D.J. :-) Caleb is just a great guy, and I wish I coulda' spent more time with him at camp. Caleb, my first memory of the Seattle train station is watching this person i didnt know just glow and joke around! You made me feel so welcome and happy, like a huge dose of camp energy. I was standing there boarding the train watching everyone thinking "if this is how camp begins, this could be an amazing adventure". Also your wisdom when on the train ride you so casually mentioned that we start telling each other our life stories. Go forward and do all the ass kickingly cool stuff we all know you will. you dance like a god. -Dawn I really love being around Caleb. . . . he's such an interesting person. He's friendly and outgoing and charming and playful, not to mention an incredible dancer, in my eyes - yet there's also a more serious, thoughtful, uncertain side to him that serves to balance out the brightness and makes him really wonderfully human. He has an amazing sweet smile, and a quick, shining way of relating people. He's really sensitive and aware of different points of view, and yup....the best dancer in the world. yay caleb! His presence made an incredible impact on me at camp. His honesty and openness awed me, because it's something I want to have more of. His energy is huge and glowing and powerful. And he's one of the main people who inspired me to start swing dancing! And those were some fun dare or dare games, heehee.. :-) (-courtney) ~laughs~ wow, where do i start? the morning after i arrived in eugene, i was feeling rather newish and out-of-place...and then i went out for breakfast with caleb and maya and orjan. caleb made me feel so comfortable, like i'd known him for years. he's funny, beyond adorable, friendly, caring, outgoing, happy, special, warm, cute, and just one of those people that makes you feel light and shiny when you're around them. ~Katgrrl~ he has taught me so much. he taught me how to swing, for one thing. he was the first person to talk to me at camp, he brought me tea when i was sick. he's stuck by me. he's fabulously talented. ~samara ... tallented and charismatic and personable and easy on the eyes and all that, but that's not why I love the guy. So why do I? I dunno ... ;-) He's a sweetie. He's a good friend that will tell you exactly what he thinks, regardless of what the "nice" thing to say would be. When (or if) you can get him alone, he'll tell you his views on life and the state of the world in a manner that is (as Amy said) more serious and thoughtful and uncertain, which (as Amy also said) makes him so wonderfully human. I really admire the way he is able to talk to people and effect them. If you watch the rare Caleb in his natural habitat, which is (ahem) just about anywhere containing music or electronics, you'll see what I mean. Samantha Caleb is this awesome guy who I met at camp '97. He was shorter than me, at the time, which was amazing, 'cause I was really short! He's an awesome swing dancer who I wish I could dance with more often, but he lives in Seattle! Damnit! He's really cute, as everyone knows, and charming to go along with it. He's one of those few people I could talk to about anything, and he always seems to understand, and have important things to say. He helps me understand myself, and believe me, I find me rather confusing! Writing about him makes me miss ever so much more, and now I want to see him!! Corale The sweet, cute, friendly, talented *nods head*. One of the things I'm apreciating more about Caleb every time I'm around him is his skill as a leader. He's so (subtly) grounded in himself that he can give his energy out seemingly endlessly. He has such a good sense of group dynamics, he makes you feel good about group decisions (whether it's orgonizing a dance, or trying to find someplace for ten people to eat dinner). He is graceful with people - that's as well as I can put it. ~/tessa/ Caleb's really sweet and cute, as so many people before me have said. I am constantly amazed by the positive energy he manages to inject into whichever group or person he's interacting with at the moment, whether it's advisee groups or a swing workshop, even if he's incredibly sick at the moment! I love Caleb! - Emma I remember the first year I went to camp. I was shy, anti-social, and just generally depressive and unwilling to connect with people. But Caleb was one of the few people who seemed to make an effort to connect with me and hang out and such. He was always really friendly to me and greeted me with a smile. Caleb's just an awesome guy (Not to mention he gives the best hugs) and if it wasn't for him and a few others I probably wouldn't have gone back to camp the next year. I'm just really grateful that he was there in 98, cuz he totally made camp for me. Thanks man! - Zen yeesh, i haven't written anything yet! there's so much to say about caleb, and everyone's said it so well. caleb impressed me with how nice he was even when he was sick. if i had been there i don't know if i could have put up with the constant stream of worried and well meaning people. like so many other people, i was inspired to start swing dancing by caleb. he's a great conversationalist, especially about politics and changing the world. one thing i love about him is how he always looks at you and really pays attention when you're talking to him. he gives great massages. i love his laugh. you can tell it comes from deep inside him, from his heart and soul. he knows all the same rounds i do and he's great to sing with. there's just so much that's rad about caleb! i can't imagine anyone not loving him. i want to keep knowing him his whole life. -marina, who may have got a bit overly enthusiastic... but still means every word she said from just watching him has made me want to get to know him. but it's his swing dancing that i'll always remember. he is one of most awesomest swing dancers i've ever seen. and when he is dancing with corale, it even more awesome... (he's the reason i learned some swing)...but he is someone who just seems so nice & cool & stuff that i've got to get to know him. tiffany Caleb... that charismatic dancer who fills up the room with energy... the introvert, who finds the beauty and truth in people that is so often overlooked. It's not amazing that so many people love you, but that you are able to love that many people in return. I've learned so much from watching you grow. -Susannah Caleb i had heard about how awesome this caleb person was before i came to camp this year, from my sista darling, and from dian. so. i saw caleb on the bus at the amtrak station this year (my first year at camp) and he was happily introducing himself to people. when he and i eventually said hi, i felt so incredible connected to him, right away. we sat together for the bus ride, and i really enjoyed his company. i only got to get to know him for about 2 days, because he got sick, which i regret happening so much, for his sake, but also because i could have talked to him for hours, and really wanted too. this is making me miss him. caleb is beautiful, talented, kind, warm and open, a total cutey, very charismatic, just a dream of a boy. i love you caleb.~sarah compton~ The nicest guy at camp!
From an essay I wrote: "Caleb, so happy and loved by everyone, his own personal groupies, a dancer to rival anyone, a laugh to make you melt and a smile to make you cry. Kind, gentle Caleb is so friendly, happy and really cool!!! you where so nice to me, including me in lots of things. And I love watching you dance, you do all the steps with such ease, and you can tell from the look on your face while you dance, that you love it. I love you Caleb.~Josie~ Caleb is always the first person to come to mind when I think about how cool unschoolers are. Always. He's also incredibly handsome, but I swear it's his personality I'm really interested in. Caleb is one awsome kid. If you can catch him alone (or even just away fromhis groupies) you can have a really deep meaningfull conversation about many different things. He has really coool parents. And if anyone can tell us what's so attractive about him to the fairer sex, be sure to let us know (he he.)-Lorin Caleb is awesome and sweet and everything else mentioned on this page.
