Camping Gathering

OK, here's the idea. For various reasons (college, expense, etc) I might not be at camp this year (2001), so I was thinking about organizing an unschooler gathering here sometime in the summer (before camp).

I was thinking that it would be neat to have a camping trip [1] here (near Victoria, B.C) for 3 or 4 days. It would be somewhere driveable to but might or might not have running water, etc. This is all a vague idea at this point.

So, I'm wanting to find out what kind of interest there would be in this... Charlie would probably be interested, and Dawn & Shippy if they're not in Europe at the time, but I don't know who else from around here is into camping. So, speak up, make suggestions, etc!

I'd really love to come to a gathering like this. It'd really be a lot of fun. I want to get outdoors this summer, and camping is so much fun with good friends. Yeah. Interested!

Hey, when you write.. if you have any general information on what dates (very approximate) would be good, or any problems you'd have, or anything, that would be great I'm a details-oriented person, so it hepls me feel less lost if I have some information :-)

Hey, dude, that would be wonderful! I have only aprox dates... Clearly i want to (probably) stay in Europe as long as possible,,, so there for right before Theory would suit me best. but your in college so that may not work. Either day, certainly give it a shot. I'd suggest late Aug, a public campsite near a beach, find out who can bring tents and coolers!

Yah, sounds good! Would have to be before September for me.. at least, that's the only time I can be sure it will work, though I might well have enough time once I'm in college. I was thinking originally of using some property my Grandpa has near the ocean in East Sooke, but then I realized we wouldn't have outhouses there, which would definitely be preferable. We'll see.. might be able to figure out a way to make it work (I know there's a cabin on the property.. if it's not in use, perhaps we can use the chemical?? toilet there). So, who has coolers and tents?! :-)

[1] My parents aren't extremely enthusiastic about a bunch of people piling into our house, but would be happy to help supervise a camping trip.
