Dig Ugly Things

"You dig something like a garage door, y'know. I mean, how many people say 'OH! Look at that GarageDoor,' y'know? I mean, you get a lot of this stuff: 'Oh, what beautiful azaleas.'" - Mike Nesmith

sidewalks stained over many years by jacaranda blossoms.

bombed out houses... so sad and so beautiful, just shells of who they were sitting under the sky.. -Dawn

crying is so so sooo pritty. i love tears

chipped nail polish, baby! It means ya did stuff with your hands and feet!

 Mmmmk
 hows this for a brain-scracher
     everything is beautiful
     nouthing is ugly
therefor you can't dig ugly things
     cuz everything is beautiful

your ever so weard-o --Heather

Manure (sp?) you know, animal poop. I caught a whiff of some sort of manure today while I was biking back from the music store, and I had to say "Gee...That smells good." Maybe it's just 'cuz I'm from the rural midwest, and it's a smell I associate with home, But I think Manure has an undeserved bad name. -Lorin

new york. so ugly, yet so beautiful. --wb

It takes no talent to love and admire things (or people, or qualities, et cetera) that are beautiful. The rest are labeled ugly, fearsome, or simply ignored. They need their own space. - Naela

Bruised toenails and blisters! - Emma

I like blood. Is blood ugly? Well... maybe to the general population it is. Anyway, it should be apprieciated more; it's one of our important life fluids ;) wanderlust

  • Right On! blood is ugly, especially in mid clot, but it's so thick and nummy and important you have to love it! -Miranda

Sunburns are kinda neat to look at...and yes I like to peel my very rare sunburns, and admit it, we all do. I also think blisters are interesting things. Wood completely invaded by termites are kinda neat to look at. I like things like toasters, and blenders...I am rambling

 - Gennie
  • I think sunburns are beautiful... people always look better when they're sunburned for some reason. I wish I'd get a sunburn. I never burn. Hmmph. wanderlust
  • You can have mine. I don't turn tan in the sun. I turn pink. -Kathleen
  • What?? I think sunburns are horrible! I hate that bright red I turn... unfortunatly, none the less, I've been taught to covet the asthetics of tans.

My Fight Club burn. It is as ugly as hell and yet fascenating and...it looks like fun to pick, but it's not. When I pick at it it hurts like hell and looks like hell. But it is healing and it is interesting watching all the stages it goes through. I like how bloody injuries look. Well, most of them anyways. Isn't that gross? ~Erin

Road Kill. When I was bike touring, I took photos of it-- a newly dead deer on the coast highway, a squashed raccoon. I also had the chance to watch a snake try to kill a mouse, and got a photo of it... reanna

Sanitary napkins!! I hadn't ever realized how cool they are cuz i use tampons (why does that make people sneer at me???) and anyway it's just cool that they like, absorb, cuz they're basically 2 dimensional they're so flat, where does all the blood go???? immediately, too, cuz it doesn't seem to get all over one's clothes, which is a GOOD thing! This is all *I* care to post on Wiki, at least at 5AM after taking Greyhound 150 0 miles...shallow or maybe just noncomformist i haven't decided yet Jenny

bruises and scars. i think they are soooo beautiful, especially bruises, but only if i don't really know where i got them from. ~sarah

Piles of scrap metal... the longer they've been sitting to rust undisturbed, the better. People who put a big ugly fence around their junkyard ruin the landscape more than those who leave the junk in sight.

                                               -- Chris B...

Shattered glass, gritty sidewalks, deformed limbs, graffiti! Trash cans in alleyways, black bags, bruised eyes, the detritis of society. Music consisting of mostly screams and screeching guitar. Chipped paint, scrap metal, chain fences and barbed wire. Old, rotting cars and abandoned factories. Garbage on the street. Loud voices, harsh laughter, grease, acid. I don't know why I love these harsh, unbeautiful things I see around me. I just do.

~Eire

Ugly stuff is so gorgeous, which makes sense... it's particularly not beautifull, and you can see why, like long greasy hair, it is the opposite of beauty and plainness, it is the squeak of a perfectly tuned violin, it is the potent deep smell of skunk, or a thunderstorm crushing those azaleas you talk of, it is an entity which most find unpleasing, a spirited child that most dismiss as troublesome and not pretty, but you must tame her only to you and find all her prettyness.

No woman is truely beautifull who is not also sometimes truely ugly. ~wind

Runny mascara is stunning, especially when mixed with tears. ~Maggie

I am a pointe dancer (ballet on pointe) and I just love it when people get blisters and callises and bloody toes. It sounds discusting but to me it shows someone with true determination to have stuck with pointe for that long. Cause it is truely painful and VERY hard! ~Amy
