| Do You Believe It |
This isn't so much about ghosties and ghoulies, but a little kink of mine. When I first meet people. I have this ability to say things that they have not told me about themselves. It is always accidental, but I will make some joke or comment, and it has happened to the other person.I remember when I first met my friend travis, and he jokingly said, tell me a story, so I made up this elaborate sarcastic story about this tragic man who married an awful woman, who left him. It turned out this had happened to him, and I had no idea. I usually think of these as coincidental moments, but it keeps happening more and more. I am not saying I am psychic,but...I have moments.

- It definitely happened... I think.
My friend Chris grew up in LA, but in a little more quiet of a time. There was this house at the end of the block that all the kids jived on believing was haunted, and so of course Chris had to investigate it one night, which just happened to be midnight on halloween, 1985. He and one of his friends snuck through a broken fence and up to the door, which creaked eerily as they opened it, of course. They heard nothing, and saw no lights, so they grew bolder and went upstairs. Once there,Chris' friend was suprised by being grabbed from behind and a gun held to his head. CHris ran down the staris and went to get the police, who finally came, after laughing about halloween pranks a little bit. They got back to the house and rescued the friend from a guy who turned out to be the sole occupant of the house who had been disfigured by a childhood illness and who, it was later discovered, had killed the rest of his family and buried them in the floor of his basement. The kids had to testify in court, and explain the fact that they were breaking and ntering, but were exonerated by the fact that they led to the arrest of this "ghost".
When I was a little kid and got sick I would lay in mama and daddy's bed and sleep and watch tv and listen to Mozart through my sickness. One time I had a real woozy sort of flu or something, and I was laying in bed with the blinds closed (in the daytime). I was listening to Mozart's Piano Concerto no.21, and I saw angels appear in the room. I just looked at them, not surprised. They were sort of brightish, and they were beautiful, and they moved slowly. There were lots of them. All there watching me. It wasn't scary or odd or anything. They were just there and I understood. ~Erin
- Once upon a late night after a lot of ice cream in a dark candlelit room, a fifteen year old boy learned how to move inanimate objects. It started out as a joke. A "I bet I can move this bottlecap without touching it" kinda thing. The this boy really got into it and put all of his concentration into trying to move the little metal circle. Little white arms flashed out and a sister cryed "oh my god". It had moved. Not much, but a tiny bit. Enough to see it. "go to bed go to bed go to bed go to bed go to bed go to bed" she whispers frantically. The boy obeys.

- My cat once talked to me.
- When I was about twelve, I was convinced I had magical powers. It was mostly because of this one thing that happened. I stood on the pier of Catalina Island, desprately hoping to see a sea lion. Finally I got impatient, tired of standing outside in the wind, and I willed with all my might to communicate with a sea lion. I whispered, and *pow*, like some kind of subaqua missile, this glistening creature shot up from the turquise depths, through the lights and up towards my reaching hand. I was pretty happy with myself, and I did it again. The sea lion appeared again, this time chasing a flying fish. This woman, a teacher of the school group I was with, looked at me with super-wide eyes and was like "you're magic!" she tried to get me to go to their school instead of unschooling. I guess she thought it would be good to have a summoner-in-residence.
- I have two ghost stories. One happened to me a long time ago, so I'm not sure exactly how accurate my memmory is, but I was freaked out by it, whatever happened.
1)There's this decrepit old resturaunt in my village (well, actually it's closed now), but there were always these ghost stories going around about that place. My friends and I used to go there to get nachos and shirley temples, just so that we could get stuck in the afternoon monsoons on the walk home (we liked mud puddles). Anyway, this one time, I went into the women's bathroom, and there are these two mirrors hung on opposite walls, so that they reflect eachother. I was looking into them and imagining infinity, when all of a sudden........I saw....oh, wait, I can't really remember. I came screaming out of the bathroom, and made my friend choke on her marichino cherry.
2)I used to work at this place that rented out houses, like a hotel. I cleaned, every day all afternoon. There's this really old adobe house that is really dusty and always took more time than the others, and everyone always made me clean it because they were all terrified of "the ghost". Some woman had been murdered there about 20 years ago. I wasn't really that nervous about it until one day, when our ghost was in fine form and decided to make my work day very interesting. It started out with the radio. I turned it on to "107.9 the edge" and was listening to some disfunctional garbage (I wasn't in the best mood), when all of a sudden, the radio goes static. I go back over to the radio and the knob is all the way down to about 90. I kind of freaked out and got my friend Ken to help me. Or keep me company. We were doing the dishes after cleaning out the fireplace, and there was this huge clatter in the living room. The tools for the fire were all over the floor, the fire was going, and all the firewood we'd brought in was spilled all over the room. We basically uttered very girly screams and took a break for a while. After that, I tried to make friends with the ghost, and listen to her kind of music. She likes 90.6, I think.

Ghost story:
Once my mom spent a night in a haunted house, an old family house. Anyway, I think it was around late night/early morning when she woke up and heard creaking sounds coming from the attic... when she got up there, she peeked in and saw a wheelchair slowly moving back and forth by itself!
Man, I gotta find that house! :)

Once the angels sang to me. I was seven years old, and we were sleeping over at this house (this was before we moved here, when my mom and stepfather were just starting to get to know each other) The lights were on, and I couldn't sleep. It was midnight and everyone else was in dreamland. Then I started hearing growling voices, terrible voices of people in pain. Like, you know, the typical sounds of hell. I could envision monsters and mutilated people... ran into the bathroom to hide, but I could still hear them outside the door. I came back after a few minutes and started crying, which woke up my mom. She got me a banana and a glass of water, and tucked me back into bed. As I fell asleep, I heard the sound of celestial music and the singing of angels. The end.

My only supernatural expirience was in a bookstore. (Of course!) I was looking at books, and down the aisle from my a book fell off the shelf. No one was anywhere around, so I went over and picked it up to put it back on the shelf. It was 'The Invisible Man'.

I saw a ghost once. I was about ten years old and I was staying the night at my friend Hannah's really old house. She had told me lots of times before about how her great-uncle died in that house and how he sometimes shows back up, and those stories were always a lot more fascinating than "More Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark". So one night I was sleeping over there, and I got up at 6am to go use the bathroom. Her room was in the back of the house, a part that really hadn't been inhabited much by them until a short time before that. Leaving her room I entered the seemingly eternally dark passageway and little room that leads to the front of the house. It is even dark when it is light. So as soon as I stepped into the room, I saw a black figure just standing there, facing sideways, bowing its head. Like in sadness of some sort. It was faint and somewhat transparent but it was definitely there. It was moving a little but not a lot, and it didn't seem to react when I entered the room. Of course, I walked out of that room and into the front of the house as quick as I possibly could (just out of utter surprise.. it wasn't something I exactly expected to see), so I didn't get that long of a look at it. Looking back on it, it feels kind of surreal, but I've never really doubted or changed my opinion of my first impression of it. -courtney
my friend terry once told me about an experience she had when her kids were very small. you see she used to live in Portland and still had lots of friends there even after she moved to vancouver, and one of those friends (rosa) was pregnant and about due (terry hadn't had a chance to talk with rosa for half a year, but she was due sometime that month) and terry knew that rosa was going to have a home-birth and another friend, mina, who lived nextdoor and was a midwife would birth the child. now on the 3rd, terry woke up in the middle of the night with the Intense feeling that rosa was having her baby, and just as she was surfacing from sleep she heard a voice say "look who's got a girlfriend". well she was very confused, but she had cried out as she woke up and since her husband jack was awake she told him about the experience and went back to sleep. all the next day she was really stressed out, not wanting to call rosa and sound silly, but not wanting to leave it and not know. finally she called mina and related the entire story, and the line was quiet for a while and then mina said "yes, rosa had her baby last night, but is she didn't say that about the girlfriend. I did. I brought my baby boy along and when rosa's baby turned out to be a girl I held up my little rodger and said exactly that."
