Fish And Shellfish Eaters Of America (And Canada, eh) Anonymous

So, I'm a vegetarian. I live in the midwest. I've never eaten a freshly killed aquatic dwelling soul, you know, the kind you have to gut or something. Never seen one, either. The fish I have eaten come from the fish counter at the grocery. They are cut in little squares. There's salmon, and shrimp, and cod, and tins of crab and herring. There are no heads present..they don't really look like...anything more than...leetle squares. So I've (sob) had salmon patties and shrimp and crab cakes and (sniff) lake perch and steamed mussels. Mostly because I didn't feel like making an alternate meal for myself, after I've already made one for everyone else. And they tasted good! I liked eating dead aquatic dwelling souls. But I don't eat meat. Ever. So what do I do? I am a vegetarian, but I eat...fish! and shellfish! (But never lobster, because in my midwestern grocery store they are alive and have little heads and eyes and stuff. I want to rescue those.) A vegetarian who eats fish? Erp. Sounds...stupid. Fish have feeling, too! And so do crabs.. A hypocrite? But that involves a long stupid explanation like the one above. I guess I really need to stop eating fish and shellfish then. All of them. Or I could say I don't eat meat. Hermm... Sounds... Squirmy. --Carrie

Heh, me too! Except I don't eat crabs and lobsters and those types anymore. - Emma

  • huzzah! huzzah! Here, have some cocktail sauce on a saltine...(heh)

I'm sorry but the excuse that you don't eat meat won't work. Just because fish live in water doesn't mean that they are not meat.

  • Yah, I know, hence I squirmed. But I haven't had any fish or shellfish for almost a month so yay for me! Fish are people, too. ;) --Carrie
