| Glass House Glass Town And History |
Today I set up my new scanner and went to work scanning more pages for my history webpage. And I came across the following dilemna... I have in my possession photocopies of the student card of two missionary women, both who graduated university just shortly after the turn of the century. And I've put images of one of these cards online. (http://www.smokylake.com/history/graves/ellascard.htm) But that made me think... why is it I'm prying into people's personal lives and putting them online?
As a historian online, I ask the question, what should go online or not...? Would it be wrong to include information about people who are still alive, without asking their permission? (But then again, newspapers continually publish sutff without asking permission, right?)
What's history? What's private? Any ideas?
