Introducing Nikki

Hello. I'm Nikki Simmons, I'm 14, I live in BC. Enough of that.

I have a confession to make. I am not an unschooler. Not totally, anyway. I'm in a distance education program that I'm not very good at getting done (I procrastinate), but I still find plenty of time to learn about things that interest me. This is quite a change from last year, when 8 or 10 hours of each day would be taken up by school and homework.

I enjoy reading, listening to music, walking in the bush, chip-carving, trying to use a computer (the operative word is trying), cooking... I'm getting a headache.

I'll end this off with a warning: I have some strong opinions, but I'm not a very good communicator, so please don't take offense if I'm not very good at expressing them in a diplomatic fashion.

Ask any questions you like, but I won't guarantee answers.

Change of plans, I'm going back to the local school next year. Hell on earth, I know, but it's only 2 years and it'll make my parents feel a lot better. I wasn't getting enough of the distance ed work done, and they want me to graduate just so I'll have that piece of paper. It's a small enough school that most of the teachers know me; I can ask annoying questions, 'forget' my homework, and pass most of my classes on test scores. Do I have a bad attitude? - Nikki

Ok, these are annoying, typically asked questions, but they're good ones! ...what do you plan to do? Do you have a profession in mind? Will you go to/skip college? Do you have a passion?

Or... Will you levitate the Pentagon? Do you hate the smell of gasoline? Can you do a handstand? ;) - Emma

• I don't plan ahead much. I don't have a profession in mind. I'll go to college if I can scrape up the money, but I don't know what I'd study.
