| L L Letters |
Few know it, but when Kim receives a letter, she does not open it. Oh no. She sticks it in her pocket and feels good and carries it around with her untill it's time to open it. Then she opens it.
At a camping trip recently, I was talking with an adult friend of mine and I told him I got a letter, and he said something like I must be one of the 6 people in the world who still converse on paper. But there must be more than that, cause if there's only 6 I write to all of them... well, almost. But before this Fall I never wrote letters. Not even thank you note kind of deals. And now... I've discovered I love it. I love the ink coming out of the pen and making meanings and connections on the page. I love seeing handwriting and miss-spellings, they're such a part of people's personality... and there's just so many things you can do with margins and envelopes! I've been having so much fun making origami envelopes, and doodling and writing quotes all over them, and writing on weird paper and all sorts of fun stuff... and then of course getting letters back is terrific too.
The counterpart of this is that I've been really bad about replying to e-mails. They're just not as fun at all...
