Hey, I like math and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Nick H

Mike likes math too, though he doesn't done much of it since he left school. The one thing that I have still got from grade school is the memorization of Pi to the 50th decimal place, and yes I did need to memorize, although I have yet to use all 50 decimals in any calculations. *grins* There is just something about being able to rattle of all the digits to somebody who is doubtful that I know them. Math is beautiful... done well its like poetry, or music, or art... learning it is like uncovering a new language and slowly being able to read more and more... its another realm to sort of slowly nudge your brain into opening to.
Math is also something that... should not be taken for reality. Its a way of exploring that edge between fact and the invented world we live in. We count by tens, and so we assume that tens are somehow a magical number, but it does not have to have been that way.
I've attempted to explore what math could be like if we counted by other numbers... see http://www.smokylake.com/Christy/numbers.htm for my notes.
But that said... I am not good at math. I have not put the time into it, like I should have.

Okay math geeks....
What's some of your favorite projects? What's a project or question that's been confusing or stumping you? Or one that you enjoyed solving... why not post the projects here? (yes, I know math can be hard to type out, but it can normally be typed out... use * for multiplying, and ^ to show exponents...)
