Mirc Instructions

if you've already downloaded mirc, great! if not I'll try and walk you through it. Open up your web browser and go to www.mirc.com On the lefthand side of the main page will be several links. The second one from the top is "Download mIRC". That will be the one you want to go to. That will take you to a page with many different places from which you can download. Select the one closest to your home and click on it. If your first choice dosen't work, try another. A save program dialog box will pop up. Select save, and a directory which to save it in. The default should be fine. Click save and it should start downloading, it may take awhile if you have a slow connection. I suggest you go have a cookie or write that e-mail that you have been meaning to. Once it's finished downloading click on the open button on the download dialog. You should get a popup asking if you want to install mIRC, click next. If you really want to read the license agreement, go ahead. Once you are done you can click yes. A box with the folder mIRC will be installed in and a few check boxes will appear, the defaults are "c:\mirc" and to install shortcuts on your desktop and backup any existing mIRC files you might have, which you don't or you wouldn't be reading this. Click install and it will finish installation for you, and the final box will open with a check box that says "launch mIRC"; select that check box and click finish.

Now, onto connecting to the Not Back To School Camp irc server. When mIRC opens a box containing information about the author of mIRC will appear, X out of it by hitting the X on the top right of the box. A second box will popup with a few fields for you to enter information into: "Full Name:", "E-Mail Address:", "Nickname:" and "Alternative:". Enter your information into those boxes and click OK. You will now have a white box with a text field at the bottom. In that text field type /server irc.nbtsc.org. A few messages about your connect status will display and then a channels box will open. close it and type in the text field /join #nbtsc. You should now be in the main chatroom, and the should be a geek there to help you with any questions you might have. Look for Aredridel, Platypus, Zaphod, Joey, Ryland, Box-of-Rain or Papermoon.
