Once Upon A Kim

Kim walked out of her door and in to the misty morning in her down fluff pettycoat. She carried with her Emma's top hat, left on her swoonchair after the Austin Social ball.

She stretched, and yawned. The sun climbed slowly, through the haze. She smiled at Becky, who was floating right above her head. Kim turned to go back inside, then paused, doing a classic double take.

"Becky...?" She said, hesitantly. Becky grinned. All of a sudden, there was a pop, and Zen appeared in the air next to Becky. "You KNOW what the doctor said Becky." Zen said to her sharply. "No floating till after noon. It's too dangerous, in your..condition."

"But my dear Mr. Zenith," Becky said, yawning, "it is only my... condition, as you so delicately put it, that enables me to float." She extended a hand to Kim, who took it hesitantly. Suddenly she was upside-down! Her head was at the perfect level to peer into Zen's nostrils.

Kim had been lost in many things. Life, love, sadness, libraries... but to be lost in someone's nostrils was quite a new experience. Kind of disgusting, too, but she was one of the tough types of princesses, and she could deal just fine with a little slime.

 "Hellooooooo?", she quavered.

Then, feeling rather ridiculous, she muttered "AHEM" in a loud, forceful voice. Apparently, there are no echoes in nostrils....

... but there are talking cucumbers! She almost sliced the damn thing with her sword, too. It did come as quite a surprise, although Kim knew she shouldn't be surprised by anything anymore.

"Look, pallie," said the cucumber, in a voice that sounded strangely like a cross between Frank Sinatra and Mr. Clean. "We got a problem here, and if you've got the brain, I got a deal for ya..."
