Once Upon A Tessa

Tessa woke up slowly and reluctantly. Her head was throbbing, and spots danced in front of her eyes. She felt hard wood under her back. Opening her eyes as slowly as possible, she realized she was lying on the floor in a huge room. The ceiling was high, high above her, and the furniture around her seemed to have been built for giants. Suddenly she recognized Mitchell's living room. Everything around her looked familiar, only it was many, many times bigger. And the other weird thing was that no one else was around. She listened hard for footsteps or voices, but there was no sound of human activity. What the hell was going on? Where was Robyn?

She racked her brains for memories of the previous night. There had to be some explanation for this situation. She vaguely remembered talking to Mitchell. Had they been arguing? Yes... And it was about something very important. She remembered that much. He had eventually picked up a large carrot, waved it at her in a very unfriendly way, and muttered some strange words. That was where her memory ran out.

Something had to be done to figure out what had happened. She rolled over onto her stomach and was about to stand up when she got a good look at herself in the mirror.

She screamed, or tried to. All that came out was a squeak. She squinted her eyes shut, shook her head, and looked at herself again. There was no escaping it now: Someone had turned her into a marmot. She had matted brown fur and stubby paws and whiskers. Whiskers! She couldn't think of a reason why anyone, especially not Mitchell, would want to turn her into a marmot.

Suddenly she heard voices and footsteps coming up the back stairs. Somehow she got the impression that it would be a good idea to hide, so she squeezed herself into a nearby closet and listened as the voices got closer.

"What did you do with her?!" Tessa could hear Robyn screaming. Probably at Mitchell. "Well? Where is she?" Then Tessa heard another quieter voice. "Robyn, calm down, all I did was turn her into a marmot. The effect is temporary, she should start turning back into a human in about 3 days."add
