| Poem For Fiona Darling |
she said:
cheer up.
the sun'll show one of these days
and it did
now months away that first word set to that melody
brings back mind pictures
and i'm tugging the ends of my hair
remembering
phones rings
i jump
she talks
and the dial tone when we're done
is special somehow
remember babe?
when water streaked our shoulders
in perfect lines
smiles streaked our faces in laughter
sugar bit our tongues
and giggles laced our conversation i was
drunk on those giggles
so insane
so perfect
remember hon?
gravel hurt my feet but i didn't care
your feet were hurting too and yet
we danced.
dolls were layed to rest
so long ago
but we are walking still
come to me with the hard parts
and help me carry mine
we'll float darlin'
rafts can't carry us
but barges can and we'll find one
hitch a ride
sleep among the stars
we'll fly soon you and i we'll
fly.
for Fiona with heaps of love from her franny
