Really Cool Things To Do

Inexpensive, happy, neat things...or things to do that help when you're sad...or ideas for unique days out...or dishes to cook that you invented...or a nice craft project...fun ways to fulfill schoolish assignments or subjects..or..whatever!

run around in airport arrival gates naked(preferably one from costa rica). -isaac v

Get a horse and learn to ride so you don't kill your self. Then Get on bareback and run as fast as you can while the wind makes your eyes water and you can feel the horse moving under you and it's the best feeling in the whole world.

The outside on a horse is the best thing for the inside of a man (or woman)(or me) --Winston churchill (the bit inside the parentises I added)

--Ruth

Get a cup of hot tea in your favorite funny-phrase-mug, put on a warm sweater, comfortable pants, open the door and leave the world behind you and be one with creation; witness the clouds, love the birds, stroll the fields and feel the grass beneath your feet and embrace the cold wind ~Danopian, cynical madman~

hack up magazines and newspapers for art supplies. travel, if only on a random city bus for a while. flip open a recipie book to a random page. declare the day a total bust and go back to bed. jump in puddles read childrens books of knock knock jokes wear dry socks glue a coin to the pavement fingerpaint. make funny faces at strangers live... :) -Dawn

cool things naomi wants to do when she finds that special boyboy...

take him to the airport and buy lots of snacks and drinks and things, and then go to the Arrivals. sit and eat and laugh and smile, watching families get off airplanes and be greeted by the ones they've missed. little girls jumping into the arms of their daddy's, teenage boys coming back home to their sweethearts, old couples being reunited... ahhh.

just drive around aimlessly, stopping at every dumpster you see. dig around through the dumpster looking for various unusual things that could be useful, like old bent pieces of tin or nice hard pieces of wood for making things like birdhouses.

invite him over in the springtime and open all the doors and windows. just him and me. turn on the stereo and play some music loudly, extra good music, extra loud. slave over the stove boiling water to make some canned soup for him, and maybe a couple of cans of pop and some saltine crackers. dance like fools in my living room and sing out of tune until our voices are gone.

take a bath with our swimsuits on!

i know. i'm a really weird, but really romantic little girl. *sigh* -moth

read your favorite book in the tippy-top of a tree

light candles all around your bath, run the water super hot, and pour the whole container of bubble bath in. make yourself a cup of hot tea, turn off the light, and soak in the bath by the light of the candles.

find a roof. sit on it. the tops of parking structures work too.

Run around in fancy hotels that you arn't staying at, and try to find place your not suposed to go! -NickV

go to a chiropracter and when he cracks your neck limp your neck! it'll totaly freak him out! -isaac v

Dance and sing on city rooftops. :) ~Eire~

Stir cinnamon into your hot chocolate!

  • another way to do this... take a candy cane (the peppermint kind) and dip it in your hot chocolate... stir it with it, or dip it in and suck all the chocolate off, and repeat until it wears out.

Make a flower crown and wear it until it wilts.

Nude pillow fights!

Dump m&m's into a bowl of ice cream

Wear your pajamas all day for no reason whatsoever

Dump glitter everywhere, and on everyone. Again, for no special reason whatsoever

Sit curled up on a really soft couch with a really warm soft blanket and read a really absorbing and fascinating book while eating dried apple slices.

Rosie recommends:

When you have the house to yourself at night, light a bunch of candles and make yourself dinner by candlelight. Take as much time as you need to. Sing to yourself.

Make hot apple cider with cider (not just normal apple juice), cinnammon sticks, cloves, and slices of orange. Simmer it gently together for awhile and then drink it. For cold days especially.

Go on a pilgrimage. I usually go to a tree on a hilltop nearby for mine. Very occasionally I infiltrate the beautiful Catholic church downtown during the afternoon and sit and soak up the silence. Sometimes I go down to the river and sit on the bridge, watching the dirty tidal water. It's like visiting a place as if it were a person you loved a lot who you can always drop in on.

Go to the library and get lost in the picture books section.

Kiss people.

Make maffe. (African peanut soup.) Share it with friends. (Traditionally you eat it over rice, out of a communal bowl, with your hands.)

Paint your face.

Take a jar of bubbles and go downtown to blow them out over the busy streets.

Make bread. (challah is especially good.) knead by hand. Make cookies & lick the bowl out.

steal fruit from other people's trees. pick wild blackberries. "borrow" a fresh lemon and put it in a patch of sunlight; look at how it glows, smell its skin, then make lemon honey ginger tea with it.

fulfill old promises.

go to places you've never been in your own town or familiar territory. look at familiar things from a different perspective.

write a poem.

memorize a poem and declaim it dramatically to thin air.

flirt with strangers.

draw a comic

go on a long bike ride

wear lots of glitter

ask people silly questions

sing at the sunset

climb trees (california oaks are esp. good for this)

go on a walk, totally directionlessly, and satisfy your whims at every turn. look at everything closer. go out into the country or someplace wildish and take along a naturalist book to identify things.

play dress-up.

write to a friend you haven't heard from in years.

scrub the floor with mops on your feet while listening to loud rock.

go busking (playing music in a public place with hat/instrument case out for money)

read some of the books on GoodBooks

have a bubblebath

go on a walk (especially on sunny autumn & spring days.) take along a camera (preferably an old manual one) and look at everything through the lenses. Take photos if you want.

write classical poems on bank teller machines, the walls of public bathrooms, telephone poles, billboards, etc. bring a permanent marker along with you for this purpose.
