 Sometimes in our lives
 We all have pains
 We all have sorrows...
 But no one can heal
 Those of your wounds
 That you won't let show
 Lean on me
 When you're not strong
 And I'll be your friend
 I'll help you carry on
 For it won't be long
 'Til I'm gonna' need
 Somebody to lean on
You just call on me brother
 When you need a friend
We all need somebody to lean on
You just might have a problem
 That I'll understand
We all need somebody to lean on

That's all I remember, and I'm not sure about two of the lines... I think if you do a search on http://www.altavista.com , you should be able to find it. If you're not sure how to do a search, copy and paste this whole thing, except for the parenthases (+"lyrics" +"lean on me") that should do it... -JessicaSkater

 Some times in out lives
 We all have pain,
 We all have sorrow.
 But if we are wise,
 We know that there's
 Always tomorrow.
 Lean on me
 When your not strong
 I'll be your friend
 I'll help you carry on.
 For It wont be long
 'Till I'm gonna need
 Somebody to lean on.
You just call on me brother
 When You need a hand.
We all need somebody to lean on.
I might just have a problem
 That you'll understand
We all need somebody to lean on.
 If there is a load,
 You have to bear,
 That you can't carry,
 I'm right up the road,
 I'll share your load,
 If you'll just call me.
 Please swallow your pride,
 If I have things,
 You need to borrow.
 For noone can fill
 those of your needs
 that you won't let show.
  • those are all the words. The Lean on me part and the Call on me brother part are bridge/ chorus' and get sung more than once, and I don't think I have the verses in the "official" order, but there you go. Lorin

Here's the.. um... changed version of a Disney song that Meg, Lauren, Candra, and Beanie did at session 1... I helped a bit.. but they did most of the work.

 Look at this stuff
 Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you say my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you say I'm the girl
 The girl who's got... everything.
I've got gadgets and gizmos aplenty
I've got whosits and whatsits galore
 You want thingamabobs?
We've got 20! (candra and meg blow up condoms)
 But who cares?
 They're no use... without more
(candra and meg let 'em fly into the audience)
I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see, wanna see 'em dancing
 Walking around on those...
 Whaddaya' call em?
 Oh yeah! P- FEET!

 What I would give
If I could live out of this convent
 What I would pay
To spend a day wet on the sand
 Betcha' on land
 They understand
 Bet they don't...
 Reprimand their daughters.
 Prime young women
 Sick of living
 Without a man!!
And ready to know what the people know
Askin' my questions and gettin' answers
 What is a fire
 And why does it...
 What's the word? -Burn-
 When's it my turn?
 I need to know!
What goes on in that place down below!
 Bein' real free..
 Wish I could be...
 Part of that..... world!

what was that weezer song people were playing in session two? the one we were woken up with in the staff cabin? something about the best years of your life, or something? --jessica (wb)

  • That was "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)" by Green Day.

thank you. --jessica

Which lucky people got to wake up staffers? Dang, I wanted to do that! :o)

 Heaven... I'm in, Heaven
(don't know the rest... but that /is/ part of a song!)

Ooh! Ooh! A jazz standard! I know it! -Samantha

 Cheek to Cheek
(sung the best ever as a duet by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong)
 Heaven, I'm in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together, dancing cheek to cheek
 Heaven, I'm in heaven
And the cares that hung around me through the week
Seem to vanish like a gambler's lucky streek
When we're out together, dancing cheek to cheek
Oh, I'd love to climb a mountain
And to reach it's highest peak
But it wouldn't thrill me half as much
 As dancing cheek to cheek
Oh, I'd love to go out fishing
In a river or a creek
But I wouldn't enjoy it half as much
 As dancing cheek to cheek
Dance with me... I want my arms about you...
The charms about you... will carry me through...
 To heaven; I'm in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together, dancing cheek to cheek

I know which one you're talking about, but I'm not sure how most of it goes. The Frank Sinatra one, right? The dancing cheek to cheek one? -Kathleen

(somebody help... make this format correctly) Put a space at the start of each line...

500 Miles (I'm Gonna Be)

By The Proclaimers

When I wake up, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one who wakes up next to you
When I go out, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one who goes along with you
If I get drunk, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one who gets drunk next to you
and if I haver, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one who's havering to you

Chorus:

But I would walk five hundred miles
And I would walk five hundred more
To be the one who walked a thousand miles
To fall down at your door
When I'm working, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one who's working hard for you
and when the money comes in for the work I'll do
I'll pass almost every penny on to you.
When I come home, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one who comes back home to you
and if I grow old, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one who's growing old with you

Chorus

And if I'm lonely, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one who'l lonely without you
and if I'm dreaming, I know I'm gonna dream
I'm gonna dream about the time when I'm with you
and when I go out, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one who goes along with you
When I come home, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one who comes back home to you

Chorus, Twice

"If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out!"

 /By Cat Stevens/
Well if you want to sing out, sing out!
And if you want to be free, be free.
Because there's a million things to be, you know that there are.
And if you want to live high, live high!
And if you want to live low, live low.
Because there's a million ways to go, you know that there are.
You can do what you want. The oppertunites on. And if you find a new way,
you can do it today. You could make it all true. And you can make it
undo..
you see. (Ahh ahh) It's easy. (Ahh ahh) You only need to know..
Well if you want to say yes, say yes!
And if you want to say no, say no.
Because there's a million ways to go, you know that there are.
And if you want to be me, be me!
And if you want to be you, be you.
Because there's a million things to do, you know that there are.
You can do what you want. The opportunities on. And if you find a new way,
you can do it today. You could make it all true. And you can make it
undo..
you see. (Ahh ahh) It's easy. (Ahh ahh) You only need to know..
Well if you want to sing out, sing out!
And if you want to be free, be free.
Because there's a million things to be, you know that there are.
And if you want to live high, live high!
And if you want to live low, live low.
Because there's a million ways to go, you know that there are.

Graceland

/Originally by Paul Simon, rewritten by Noam, Eryn, Dawn, and Courtney/
/Badly/ sung last year at the camp talent show (first session '99)
 The Oregon Sand Dunes
Were shining like an unschooler's guitar
We are following the unschool vans
 Down the highway
We can see Lost Valley from afar
 We're going to Graceland
 Graceland
 In Eugene Oregon
 We're going to Graceland
 Continent-wide pilgrims,/un/schoolers
And we are going to Graceland
Our travelling companions are Not Back To School Campers
And we're heading down to Lost Valley
 We have reason to believe
 We all will be received
 In Graceland
They tell us platypus is addictive
As if we didn't know that
As if we hadn't seen with our own eyes
As if we hadn't seen what it did to Jake & Michae
And she said losing sleep is an integral part of camp
Everybody sees you're up late at night
But everybody sees you're not awake

 We're going to Graceland
 Eugene Oregon
 We're going to Graceland
 Continent-wide pilgrims, /un/schoolers
And we are going to Graceland
Our travelling companions are Not Back To School Campers
And we're heading down to Lost Valley
 We have reason to believe
 We all will be received
 In Graceland

I don't know what it's called or who it's by... someone write it in?
We come from the mountains, living in the mountains.
Go back to the mountains, turn the world around.
 We come from the mountains.
Go back to the mountains, turn the world around.
We come from the forest, living in the forest.
Go back to the forest, turn the world around.
 We come from the forest.
Go back to the forest, turn the world around.
We come from the city, living in the city.
Go back to the city, turn the world around.
 We come from the city.
Go back to the city, turn the world around.
We come from the ocean, living in the ocean,
Go back to the ocean, turn the world around.
 We come from the ocean.
Go back to the ocean, turn the world around.
We come from our familys, living in our familys.
Go back to our familys, turn the world around.
 We come from our familys.
Go back to our familys, turn the world around.
We come from NBTSC, living in NBTSC.
Go back to NBTSC, turn the world around.
 We come from NBTSC.
Go back to NBTSC, turn the world around.
/(and at NBTSC '98, second session (and NBTSC 1997))/
We come from the cows, living in the cows.
Go back to the cows, turn the world around.
 We come from the cows.
Go back to the cows, turn the world around.
 (at NBTSC first session 2001)
We come from the tofu, living in the tofu
Go back to the toft, turn the world around.
 We come from the tofu.
Go back to the tofu, turn the world around.

Taking off and running with the permission to post songs that remind me of camp...

    Pleasure And Pain
    (Ben Harper)
I'm leaving here on the morning train
And I will never see this world again
    I've felt pleasure
    And I have felt pain
    And I know now
That I can never be the same
How I wonder why the world can be so cold
And if only good die young
Then left with me cruel here to grow old
    And I felt pleasure
    And I felt pain
    And I know now
I can never be the same
And if someday I find my peace of mind
I will share my wealth with all of human kind
    I've felt pleasure
    And I have felt pain
    And I know now
That I can never be the same
So if the sun does shine or rain does fall
I give thanks I've had my sight to see through it all
    And I've felt pleasure
    And I've felt pain
    And I know now
That I can never be the same

Leaving On A Jet Plane

 /by John Denver/
 All my bags are packed
 I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
 But the dawn is breakin'
 It's early morn
 The taxi's waitin'
 He's blowin' his horn
 Already I'm so lonesome
 I could die
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing
Ev'ry place I go, I'll think of you
Ev'ry song I sing, I'll sing for you
When I come back, I'll bring your wedding ring
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
Now the time has come to leave you
 One more time
 Let me kiss you
 Then close your eyes
 I'll be on my way
Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times, I won't have to say
Oh, kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
But, I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

Closing Time

 /by Semisonic/
 Artist: Semisonic

Album: Feeling Strangely Fine Title: Closing Time

Closing time - time for you to go out, go out into the world.
Closing time - turn the lights up over every boy and every girl.
Closing time - one last call for alcohol, so finish your whiskey
 or beer.
Closing time - you don't have to go home but you can't stay here.
I know who I want to take me home.
I know who I want to take me home.
I know who I want to take me home.
 Take me home...
Closing time - time for you to go back to the places you will be
 from.
Closing time - this room won't be open 'til your brothers or you
 sisters come.
So gather up your jackets, and move it to the exits - I hope you
 have found a friend.
Closing time - every new beginning comes from some other
 beginning's end.
Yeah, I know who I want to take me home.
I know who I want to take me home.
I know who I want to take me home.
 Take me home...
Closing time - time for you to go back to the places you will be
 from...
I know who I want to take me home.
I know who I want to take me home.
I know who I want to take me home.
 Take me home...
Closing time - every new beginning comes from some other beginning's
 end...
  • I adore this song, it reminds me of camp though i've never even gone... so I thought I'd post the lyrics since someone had the title up... ~Jadzia

"all i ask of you is forever to remember me as loving you..."

  • i'm not sure who wrote it...

All I ask of you is forever to remember me as loving you 2x nisjka-la mabuteila nisjka-la mabuteila 2x [1]

I found that song in Rise up singing but the words aren't the same. After the all I ask.... it goes: Deep the joy of being just together in one heart and for me that's just where it is. It says it's by Gregory Norbert. Does anyone know what's up? Is it the same song? Franny

"..i want to live like animals careless and free like animals i want to live i want to run through the jungle the wind in my hair and the sand at my feet.." ~Savage Garden

  • *sigh* someone after my own little heart. Still obsessed with Savage Garden...yours truly, Cloe Rose (2nd session '99)

[1] Found on a number of websites that this is spelled "Ishq'Allah, ma abud L'illah, Ishq'Allah, ma abud L'illah". Here's a note about its translation: Literally, "The love of God is adored by that which is divine." Freely translated as "God is Love, the Lover, and the Beloved." And a quote: "'Tis God Who is the one loved in every beloved one, and it is God Who loves through each lover the infinite reflections of the attributes of the Divine Perfection." - ibn al 'Arabi

I dont think you guys should be forgeting all those wonderful Caleb songs we have had to deal with...Eskomo's and their canoes.. -Daniel
