Storrys About Naela

Naela came to Corvallis for her Birthday last year, and as a surprise Shippy and I showed up. She totally wasnt expecting us there, she thought i was back home in Canada... she screamed and jumped around and acted generally in shock. it was most excillent. :) -Dawn

I remember once, between sessions, Naela, Dawn, Shippy, Courtney and Tessa were staying over at Buzzy and my's house. We were all sitting around eating...oh, dear, I can't remember which meal, and Naela asked me for the ketchup, I think....and I screamed 'No!' you can't have it, and clutched it to my chest...Buzzy said, 'And how did that make you feel, Rachel?' and she did this terrific sobbing impression and cried 'It made me feel....rejected!' Sent us all into gails of laughter....

Once upon a time -- actually, it was July -- I walked into a Greyhound station in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on my way to Adam B.'s place. I was quite tired and feeling rather flat; I had been traveling the whole day, since seven in the morning. Now, the next part is one of the strangest things that ever happened to me. See, Naela lives in Arizona, and I live in Connecticut, and I have no idea how it happened, but we both ended up running into each other in a bus station in the middle of nowhere (well, for us, anyway) I was reading the schedules, and I happened to look back, and there I saw a pixie-like girl with short hair reading a book. Needless to say, I was dumbfounded, but I couldn't believe that it could be her, because wasn't she at home in Arizona?? But I walked up to her anyway, and started to say: "Excuse me, I know this may sound silly, but are you....?" but I never got to finish because at the moment, we looked into each other's eyes in amazement, realized, paused, and embraced passionately *insert appropriate movie music here* and... well... we couldn't think of much to say. It was just too amazing and surreal for words. But yeah. So that's my Naela story :)

One night at Session One last year I wandered out of the lodge for some fresh air and saw Naela standing there. So we walked for a while with no particular direction in mind until we wound up in front of my cabin. Since it was somewhat chilly out I went in and got my sleeping bag, and we wrapped ourselves in it and walked down the field, back to the lodge, and turned back toward the cabins again. We ended up in the Dogwood lounge. I can't remember exactly what we talked about, but I do remember that night being one of my most pleasant camp memories. And I still remember the texture of her coat and the feel of her hands. I love you bunches and bunches, Rachel. --Mitchell
