Turn California Into A Canadian Province

So....Rosie & Melissa were having a high-minded theological debate, discussing the beauty and wonder of California, specifically the bay area. We thought, it's so wonderful, what a pity it's part of the U.S.! And then we thought, Why should it be part of the U.S.?

Yes, we are proud to say that we, Rosie and Melissa, have discovered the key to happiness. At least for Californians. If we could only make California part of Canada! Here are just a few of the many benefits that this change will afford us:

• (JessicaSkater has to butt in here...) Hey- Alaska's up by Canada, so why shouldn't Canada have the same benefit with California?

• Canada's army will no longer fit in a one room apartment

• Californians will acquire beautiful Canadian accents, and the word "eh" will gain mainstream acceptance in the states surrounding this new province

• postal service to other Canadian provinces will be much cheaper & quicker

• as Californians change their U.S. money into Canadian dollars, the exchange rate will cause a new boom in the economy

• free healthcare will be provided for all Californians to enjoy, leading to happier, healthier citizens loyal to their new country

• the stereotype of the polite Canadian is, according to many people, true. If this is to be believed, we may expect a more pleasant and polite lifestyle once California is integrated into the Canadian provinces

• there will be fewer "Getting lost in the wilds of Canada" movies. A new kind of movie will be created: Canadian survival in the wilderness of Los Angeles!

• the stereotype of the "great white north" will no longer apply, as such places as Death Valley and the Mojave desert will now be a part of Canada

• Canadians in the northern part of the continent will gain greater access to California's agriculture. Avacados, mangos, medjool dates, and many other agricultural products will become common-place in even the most northern provinces, perhaps even during the winter months

• Californians will spell "color" with a U. They will also have the option of saying "Zee" or "Zed"

• it will be much easier for Mexican emigrants to get to Canada!

• our new country flag will look so much cooler

• Californians will have a warmer reception as Canadian citizens when traveling in foreign countries

• Canadians have a reputation for being more reasonable about firearm use. Presumably this will extend to its new province

• having a Canadian province surrounded by the United States will promote good-will and understanding between the two countries

We're serious about this! Does anyone know how to make this happen? Short of a war, that is. Maybe a state petition or something? Please tell us!

I think that's a fantastic idea! As a native Californian, I think that would bring many benifits to both California and Canada. Not only would Californians become much politer, nicer, etc. (By the way, how good and fast is road construction in Canada?) but Canadians would become wilder. And everyone would find out that a beanie is not a cap with a propeller on it! I also think more people saying 'like' and 'dude' would be a good thing. marina ready and willing to sign a state petition anytime

and how could you forget? It would triple the population of Canada!!
