Words We Cant Say
I read a bit of poetry on Wiki the other day (probably by Robyn:))
and was delighted to find the word "Vagina" in it.
Really, what is it about the word Vagina that we cant use in, well anything?[1] for that matter im not even sure if i am spelling it right, i hardly EVER write it? how sad is that?
I realize this is going to come acroose as some feminist bitch, and i dont mean it to. I'm just wondering here.
are there any other words we arent supposed to say?
Or is everyone good and comfortable in sexual denial?
Dawn, in one of those moods...
Dawn dear, yes you are spelling it right..*laughs* I am assuming that you haven't read "The Vagina Monologues" by Eve Ensler? She has an excellent introductory rant which you would like.
Thank you Rosie, that sends me into a tangent. Anecdote from Alix Olson's Mrs. Magazine article.
/I've learned that political awareness and emotional healing aare separate
entities. During the show, a woman cries loudly, and I am pained by the
influence of my words. I think of Eve Ensler, author of The Vagina
Monologues, stopping short during a rape story as a woman sobbed. "Is
someone holding that woman?" she asked firmly. "Yes!" a group of women
answered.
[1] Yes i know someone is going to point out that we cant use Penis either, but i dont have one of those, so honney, "you got to write your own poetry"
- i feel a need to scream words im not suposto say like penis, virgan, dyke, sex, fuck, rape, bastered,... you know the words. well you see(!) im saying it.
