Between Sessions

Are you going to both sessions? Do you ever wonder what you will do between sessions? well, there are a few options, the one that is recomended by camp, is to stay AT camp, this can be seen as a very good option, for a few resons, such as, you will have a chance to catch up on sleep, and not miss anything, you can wash your cloths, you don't have to hunt down your own food, kill it, cook it, and battle off everyone else, who wants to eat your food, you get a warm bed to sleep in, you don't have to figur out what you are doing, and you KNOW you are going to be in a safe place, with safe people. now there are some people who go to both session, who feel that wondering off to some place like Eugene, between sessions (sence no one is forced to stay at myrtlewood between sessions)is a good idea, like my self, now of course, this meens a few things, such as, you are now in a strang town for a few days, and you need to find things to do, and stuff to eat, and places to stay. hence, the reson for this page, so go crazy.

Between 1st and 2nd sessions

Ideas for places to stay, And things to do:

for between 1st and 2nd session, in the past, peiople have rented a few hotel rooms in euegene, and wondered around eugene for the few days, the only problem that has happened with this, is a few people did not treat the hotel rooms in a responsible (to say the least) manner all the time, and some people did not know the city well enough, that they felt they could wonder, around, and find things to do.

Some returning campers, stayed with other campers who lived close-ish to eugene, the only problem with this, is some people have school, or jobs, or small houses, and the short list of people to stay with, runs out pretty fast.

One year, when there was a few weeks between sessions, there was a bike trip down the coast.

There have been more then a few people who hitch hiked to someones house, and back agian (not something that would be recomended, if it is your first time hitch hikeing.

There are state parks along the coast, and all you need, is a way to get there.

There is a hostle in Eugene, that is around $15. a night, to stay at, has a kitchen, so you can cut down on your cost of food by alot, it has a yard that you can camp in, for like $7 a tent, and is only about a 30 minute (with a large back pack on) walk from down town.

  • I'm going to be hanging out in Eugene, Portland, Corvallis, somewhere else near by or at the beach for the few days between 1st and 2nd. I will have my truck with me so if people have 500lbs of stuff that they need hauled across the city I may be able to do that for you. Also seince I will have a lovely camper on my truck (See RuthsTravelingTruck) It is quite likely I would be willing to fill it with people and drive to a camp site near the ocean for 3 days or something to that extent. Thats what I'll be doing.

Between 2nd and 3rd sessions

Ideas for places to stay, and things to do, if you are going to both a west coast session, and the east coast sesson:

Go home (HA!)

wonder off in to the Red Wood Forest.

Go to Wisconsin! it's right on the way, little more then half way in fact, there are lots of campers, and past campers that you want to see there, some of them are even right close together! and if people show some real interest in showing up, we might even have some kind of "real" gathering, and a large number of us, who live in wisconsin, are in to some really cool things that we might find the time to teach you, and we all of course, live in awsome houses, with nice parents.

  • Minnesota is also right next door to Wisconsin, and has lots of cool people too! Don't pass by us, either! -mike

  • I'm driving across from 2nd to 3rd and taking as much time as I like as long as I get there on time. I may stop at my house in Colorado or I may not. I very possibly will be going through wisconsin and perhaps parts of Canada. I'll be stopping places I think look fun/interesting and then I'll wander on. I'd like 1 (POSIBLY 2) person/people to go with me. more details on my RuthsTravelingTruck

page. --Ruth
