Eat Yer Veggies Up

I'm not sure if there's another page for this on wiki, but I wanted to start a general food page about your food choices and eating healthy. So here you go.

Also see FoodAndYou and MEAT

In Which Eire Transcribes Lists Because She Likes To Feel Important Like That. :)

Good reasons to eat healthy:

  • Physically, you have more energy and are often more relaxed in general. Well-fed people sleep better and I know this from experience.
  • Mentally. I don't know about everyone, but I concentrate better when I eat right. I heard that the more/better you eat, the smarter you become (more brain cells, or something like that) Don't quote me on that, though. :)
  • Emotionally. I find that the better I eat, the less depressed and anxious I feel. Protein and citrus nutrients, especially, do a lot for me in that area.

Healthy foods I like:

  • Brocolli with cheese
  • Pizza bagels (and pizza too.. but pizza you buy can be really greasy and gross)
  • Omelets
  • Saffron rice and black beans
  • Chili
  • Salads: both fruit and vegetable
  • Turkey sandwiches and veggie burgers
  • Yogurt
  • Mozzarella Cheese (I walk around the house eating them by the slice)
  • Whole wheat bread, and from that, peanut-butter-and-jelly!
  • Chocolate milk, cranapple juice, iced tea, gatorade

A note on weight: Extra weight is often not just fats stored in the body, but water (our bodies are 98% water, ya know) and muscle. Scales are extremely un-reliable, and weight statistics are biased towards supermodels; I would advocate throwing both out.

Oh man, I hope this doesn't sound preachy :o)

Anyone else have wisdom to share?
