HATE

Hate is the absence of love. And, therefore, a Bad Thing, unless directed towards brussel sprouts, or politicians.

Or, is it a separate thing from LOVE? I think it is, certainly. I feel it's certainly possible to love and hate something at once, and so they can't be opposites. (Ari)

i think hate and love are very similar. indifference is the opposite of both. a good illustration is a magnet. HATE and LOVE are the ends of the magnet, attracting and repelling. the other end of the magnet is indifference. marina

Hate can envelope you so much, and eat at you. Much like love in that respect. There are very few people I actually hate, but you know...I try not to, because hating them is almost like letting them win. It is almost painful for me to hate, it hurts my stomach and very soul. -Gennie

My definition of hate is to wish someone/something were dead or nonexistant. thus i never say i hate a person unless i truely would not have a problem with their death. i have the capacity to hate rapists, and perhaps a couple other people, but i try to stay away from the term for the most part. -Jennyrose
