	*Dr. Nick the Platypus is...

the best teacher in the world. He's been a constant presence on IRC forever, yet I've never really gotten to talk much with him until tonight. and tonight he blew me away with his knowledge and ability to share this knowledge. he took something that previously had been greek to me (worse, geeking) and made it actually understandable. he has the right attitude about asking questions (yay) and not only provided information about his skills, but by asking me about my specilizations, made me not feel as ignorant as i might have felt otherwise. nick has wonderful discussion abilities, teaching abilities, friend abilities, geeking abilities, and the ability to learn new stuff... i love hearing his opinions on anything he cares to talk about. and now i'm going to go steal the ranting floor from him in irc... thanks nick, a lot. --RoyaBoya

So amazingly awesome and patient and understandable and knowledgeable that I can't find words for it at the moment. Suffice to say that talking with Platypus online is always, always a Good Thing. --marina

a wonderful person to give you a reality check. very good at listening. an awesomely good computer geek. sweet. politically correct (in a good way!). he is also my friend!:):) and now to get silly, he is all-wise and all-knowing, and a kind web god. bow down to him. :) <anti-silly>

Sooo so so sexy, lovable and adorable and kind and Real -Miranda

he gave me e-mail access at camp. not once, but twice. and he let me go first, and stay on as long as i wanted. enough said. --jessica (wb)

Nick is so sweet and awesome and just so...ack! He's so great and wonderful! He has gentle sparkly eyes, a witty fun sense of humor, has mind boggling computer skills, a great sense of style that I admire. I can't get over how cool he is! ~Erin

The most admirable sentient marsupial I've ever been priviliged to meet. Radiant. The Geek Triumphant. Both more fun and more economical than a barrel of monkeys. Adorable. Possessed of a keen intellect, sparkling wit, and limitless charm. Patient. To be spared in the coming galactic takeover[0]. Amusing. Unique and irreplacable. The future ruler of kingdoms amidst the stars. Excellent. Unphased by mutant banana slugs. Honorable. And, of course, peachy keen. --Aletheia

Writes the best footnotes, which are the best kinds of things. Adds a lovely mellowy wonderfuly presence to everything. Honest, very thoughtful, seems to choose his words carefully and always says something meaningful. ~summer

The best I've encountered at pulling a Casey[1] [2] [I haven't been on IRC, but I've heard stories....] and hey, let's not forget to BowToMayorPlatypus!!! ~Mr.z~

Nick is so delightfully funny, in his own interesting way. He also give dandy hugs, a popular compliment but true. If I ever really needed to talk to someone, he'd be top on the list. -Robyn

Nicky the Squid (Ha!) has a wacky sense of humor. It's an almost organized sense of humor, too, that is especially funny. When I enter the NBTSC chatroom, I am always happy to see him. And when a ton of unschoolers are converged as a group, Nick always trails behind, along with me. Fuzzhead

Nick is, whoa, all around cool guy. Never intimidating, always easy to talk to, a god sent from the electronical gods. He hosts a hell of a New Years party. He has a quiet calm energy which is benificial in a group of kids, it keeps us grounded. He makes me wish i had a big brother [3]. -Dawn

Nick feels safe. He listens well and tries his best to understand. He is a caring, sympathic and comforting person. - Liam

heck of a guy that nick. That would be the casual thing to say about my friend Nicholas. Yes, I am the last friend that still calls him that. He gives so much of himself to other people, and I often feel that he does not get the equal amount back. I think to pay him back for all the stuff he has done for me,I would have to bake brownies until I was 800 years old, with really bad arthritis. -gennie, who made some for his birthday

I mostly know him from the nbtsc-list, but he's a great list god, and I live reading his posts when he does post. And he doesn't post on there anywhere near ofter enough. -Kathleen

I am still trying to get over Nick's amazingly spiffy sense of humor. I don't think it will ever happen. He makes me grin and giggle all the time without even trying. He is also a Computer God, of course, and is partially responsible for all these great things like wiki and castle.nbtsc.org, which make my life worth living. -courtney

Platy is a wonderful dreamer, a kickass partner in crime with Rick, charming, innocent, and the God of Geekyness. He is so there, very constant and reassuring and wise. Muah. -wanderlust

I wasn't there, but:

Someone: "Let's play on the tracks!"
 Nick: "Yeah!"

'Nuff said. -- Charlie

--- Well, damn, there's not much for me to say after that last.

Nick's a rare soul--if someone spent a lifetime trying to design an ideal friend, they might come up with someone almost as much fun to be around as Nick. He's trustworthy, thoughtful, sweet and gentle. He's idealistic and a little cynical, deeply intelligent, and not above spending several hours with a friend complaining about everything stupid in the world. He's a true & talented Geek, a Lord of Our nbtsc Domain, and I will never forget watching him fix the server from 3,000 miles away. He seems to attract small, furry animals, especially cats, who must realize that they couldn't do better for a pet human. He's patient, but he knows bullshit when he sees it. He's honorable. He likes ice cream. He gives wonderful hugs. He's clever and hopeful and articulate and spiffy and sometimes surprising. He has a great sense of humor. He embodies an unschoolish spirit with geeky skill. Someday he will build us a real CobCastle and we will all go and live together in peace and harmony. I love you, Nick.

cherry pies to go with Gennie's brownies.

nick is a wonderful wonderful friend. i still haven't quite figured out how to get him to talk in person but i'm sure i shall get the hang of it eventually. he is beautiful & soso awesome, he says the funniest stuff that's just so great i forget to wish i'd said it first. i haven't been talking alot to him lately but that doesn't mean i dont think about him & love him because i do. so ha. he looks good in makeup. he plays violin!!! 'nuff said. i love him more then i love pasta (which is a bigger compliment then it sounds like, just ask jen). you're a sweetheart. glitterpixie ps i suck for not having written on here sooner.

I love Nick for the way i can talk to him on rainy happy crazy 4am mornings dancing in the laundry room with mariah carey pumping full blast or on sad spring days eating hot soup and crying because i lost something i didn't know i had. and we connect. that connection isn't everywhere in life, and it isn't always easy to find, and when you do find it, it's like an amazing diamond you wouldn't let go of or sell because it's far too precious to be worth any money in the world. he listens to my music and still begs me to make him mix tapes which is hella flattering. he makes me amazing journals for presents that i carry around in my backpack until the beautiful covers start getting quite worn but i can't leave them at home where it's safe because they're filled with pieces of Nick that i can't find in a spiral-bound. Nick is one of my best friends in this whole world, and i will be so sad if we ever choose to part ways. I love you more than basil or tomatoes or weetzie bat or rumi poems or people shoulders or glitter or ani difranco [who expresses my soul so beautifully]. life without you wouldn't be the same. ~Jennyrose

Nick is boggling. When he talks I know to shut up and listen and I'll learn and most likely be amused at the same time. He is the ultimate Geek. A Good Good person to be around. --marina

[0] I say, don't you mean "is the brains behind the comming galactic take-over"? ...oops... I forgot, that's TopSecret isn't it? ~Mr.z~

[1] Heehee... well, besides, of course, CaseyMax himself... ;)

[2] but when Casey does it, he's just being himself!

[3] I can't picture Nick as the BigBrother type... he has too much integrity.
