Local
members
We
have half-price openings for up to 8 teenagers who live in the Bay Area
and want to participate in the house as full members, but eating the
majority of their meals at home, or bringing sack lunches with them, and
without sleeping at the Dream House (except occasionally).
The
price per session is $1500, with several partial work-trade scholarships
available. Local members are required to do some chores, depending on how
much time they actually spend at the house, and also to contribute 5 hours
of volunteer work per session. They are
entitled to:
9 meals per week (you can eat
them all yourself, or bring guests)
attend goals and dreams
workshops, resource and opportunity workshops, conflict and
communication workshops, cooking and lifeskills workshops, etc.
attend weekly meetings and
special guest dinners (these do count toward your 9 meal per week
allotment)
unlimited daytime use of the
house--library, computers, living and work spaces, kitchen, garden,
other resources.
attendance at all special
events, banquets, parties, etc. (and your parents and a mentor are
also invited to our parent and mentor events)
occasional sleepover and
shower privileges

Local
guests and part-time members
For
(up to 8) people who live in the general area but not close enough to
easily take advantage of our local member program, we offer the following
program. The main benefit of the Dream House for these folks is probably
social, but you may also enjoy taking part in some workshops, using the
house's resources, etc.
The
cost is $300 plus 10 hours of chores and 2 hours of volunteer work. (We
may have a few partial work-trade scholarships available.)
You
get to sleep (on a couch or foam pad, probably) at the Dream House for 8
nights and eat 24 meals there. While there, you are welcome to do any of
the following:
attend either our
mentor banquet or our parent banquet
attend most workshops given
by our resource coordinator, apprentices, or houseparents
attend and perform in
mid-session talent shows
teach a workshop and attend
member workshops during our closing week
enjoy use of the
house--library, computers, living and work spaces, kitchen, garden,
other resources. |
However,
in order to keep certain activities focused, you can't attend
weekly house meetings (unless
you are present for a stretch of several days, encompassing a house
meeting night)
goals and dreams workshops
our member-staff goodbye
dinner
our first 2 nights'
orientation activities
both our mentor
banquet and our parent banquet
