This is where we'll announce the most recent additions to our web site. If you've visited us before and want to know what's changed, take a look here first. At the moment, the moment being April 20, 2000, everything is new. We'll try to update this page at least once a month. In the next few weeks, though, we'll probably update it every few days--we'll add more photos and finish the pages that aren't finished yet. Thanks for your patience!!!!
January 5, 2001 Well...... we're gonna let go of this dream for now. We've been accepting registrations since last April, and although we've received a ton of very enthusiastic responses, we have not yet gotten more than 6 registrations for a single session. We're at the point where we don't want to keep hoping to do this "next session." We want to move on and put our energy into (slightly) different projects. We'll leave the website up because people seem to like it and maybe somebody who reads it will get inspired to do something similar. Also because a few years down the road I'm sure we'll try this, or something like it, again. So......thanks to everybody who got excited with us! and be sure to come to Not Back to School Camp so i can meet you. cheers, grace llewellyn
December 3--Sorry for no updates to this site in several months. I (Grace) got pretty sick after Not Back to School Camp this year and I've let many things get behind, including this website. The update right now is this: we don't have enough people registered to go ahead in January. I get email almost every day from people excited about the Dream House (and I'm behind in answering that too, sorry), but most people either want a scholarship or want to come as an apprentice or intern. I can totally understand that, but we can't open the dream house--at least not here in the expensive Bay Area-- without quite a chunk of money. We are still holding out for the March session. The deadline for registering is December 20. If we have our 16 people by then we will open in March. Thanks to everyone who continues to express enthusiasm and support for this idea! July 24--Sorry, we have to announce that there will be no Dream House in October. We didn't get enough registrations for the first session. However, we have several registrations for the January session, and are hoping to open the Dream House then. We'll need to make our decision as to whether to go ahead for January by October 1st, so if you want to join us, be sure to get your registration in by then. June 6--updated the money page and the money information on the application/registration form, to reflect the fact that our credit card company doesn't allow us to add surcharges for people who pay with credit cards. Strangely enough, it does allow us to give discounts for other types of payment, so we've adjusted all our costs to reflect this. Our official fee is now $3105, but if you pay by a check or money order you get a $105 discount, so it all evens out to exactly the same way it was before. For a slightly longer explanation, click here. May 19--made a bunch of small changes to a lot of pages, mostly just copy-editing kind of stuff, some clarifying, etc.. We now have a printed brochure available--see our home page for that. We also added a note on that page about how everything at the dream house may not go exactly as we describe it here. May 16--made a few small clarifications to the money page, continued changing the font on pages where it was hard to read, and added information about registration deadlines to "the basics" page. May 10--put up the apprenticeship application, slightly changed the apprenticeship/internship info page, and made the font more readable on several pages. May 8--put up a page on scholarships, the scholarship application, work-trade application, updated the money page, put up a page on job opportunities and fundraising. May 5--put up the registration/application form, updated the money page, updated the sign up page, changed the font on a number of pages to make it easier to read, added a rules and agreements page, and made a few other minor changes here and there. April 27--put up the staff page, a page describing apprenticeship and internship programs, a simple Bay Area page, information on housing and on our community service project idea. And the "Are You a Dreamer" page, Also added a note about web site photos to the home page and added photos to several pages.
