[Under Construction]

Come join us!

We are excited to launch this new project. In a nutshell, here's the idea:

What

A house where unschooled teenagers live, dream, work, and play together.

When

We'll operate in 10 week sessions--for 2000-2001:

October 9-December 18, 2000 (SORRY, THIS SESSION HAS BEEN CANCELED-NOT ENOUGH REGISTRATIONS)

January 3-March 14, 2001--Sorry, this session also has been canceled due to not enough registrations.

March 26-June 4, 2001 REGISTRATION DEADLINE DECEMBER 20, 2000

SORRY, we are not planning on any more sessions at this point--here's why.

(We'll take a short break between most sessions, so that staff and returning members can take vacations, visit their families, etc.)

Where

We'll rent (maybe buy) a big house in Oakland or Berkeley, California--or if we're unable to find the right house in those cities, perhaps in another nearby city in the East Bay--El Cerrito, Albany, etc. We can’t pay extra to rent it more than a month or so ahead of time, so we can't tell you the street address yet, but our criteria are:

big enough for our needs

close to bus lines and/or BART (subway)

in a well-lit, relatively safe neighborhood (of course, all cities are potentially dangerous, but we'll avoid the higher-crime areas, and probably install a security system on the house too)

Who

16 unschooled teenage residents

up to 8 local teenage members

up to 8 sort-of-local part-time teenage members

a fabulous staff of 4-5 adults, led by Grace Llewellyn, plus 2-3 apprentices and interns

and a supporting cast of thousands

How much

Your fee for the 10 week session is $3000. We have some scholarships available.
